Hi world! Last Tuesday I bought some brand new makeup from Mecca Online for the first time. I’ll be talking about my impression of the process, and what I got!
Mecca is an Australian beauty shop (equivalent of Sephora), and last Tuesday, I tried shopping online from their site.
Free shipping in 1-2 business days for orders over $75. Guys – this is insane. 1-2 business days meant that I was able to receive it the next day! The $75 threshold is quite high, but definitely achievable with all the goodies that they sell. This is definitely the fastest free shipping I’ve seen, especially in comparison to Sephora, who take 5-8 business days for metropolitan areas.
Order tracking. You can also track your order online, which is so helpful for me, who always gets paranoid of orders going missing.
3 free samples. Love this idea! This is definitely a treat, and more than other sites give – Sephora only gives 1. You get to choose from a range of samples, and I chose:
- Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar (Day and Night) – excited to try this brand for the first time – I’ve heard so many good things about their cleansers.
- Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturizer – excited to try this brand too!
- Verso Super Facial Oil with Retinol 8 – I’m excited about this one the most – I love oils on the skin, so will definitely try this when my skin is feeling particularly dry.
It looks like a very luxe present. I was so impressed with the packaging of the box guys. There is no way products are going to be damaged because they stuff it with crepe paper, and package it in an addition box. It seriously looked like a present to me from me! There was even an option to include a personalised letter, if you were to mail it to a friend – and they just email you the receipt. I included pictures because I was just so excited about opening it. I bought:
- Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
- Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
- Nars Sheer Glow Foundation – I bought this in the store!
30 days free return or exchange. This is a really good returns policy, and if you buy it online, you can return it in any Mecca store as well. This is really handy for me, cause it means I don’t have to rush to return or exchange a product if I change my mind or it’s the wrong colour match, etc., and because there are so many stores around, I don’t have to go through the hassle of mailing the product.
90 days store credit. If I pass the 30 days, I can still get store credit if I change my mind! They even allow store credit if it’s been lightly sampled! This was a massive plus for me, because I was buying a foundation of which I was unsure about the colour match. But the ladies there stated that if I swatched it, wore it, and it didn’t suit, and could just come in within 90 days and swap it for another colour.
My whole idea of online makeup shopping has changed, and I’m so glad it did! I am blown away and impressed at the amount of care and efficiency they have on all their orders and customers.
Let me know if you’ve tried online makeup shopping before, and your experiences. Also, are you guys interested in a first impression of the products?
